MAXImize Your Style

Just like history, fashion repeats itself. Look who's back! The maxi dress is here to make a statement yet again. Walking through the mall, my mother pointed to a paisley patterned maxi and told me it was "so sixties" while I thought it was "so 09". How the times change, or how the times are alike.. Regardless, the maxi is back and better than ever! Sheer, lace, sequined, patchwork- you name it, and there's a maxi dress covered with it. Dress it up with accessories and your favorite pair of pumps and you’ll be looking fresh off of the runway. The more maxi, the more style- don’t be afraid to go all out!

Maxi dresses make a statement on their own, so many accessories aren’t exactly necessary. Accessories help bring out patterns and colors, but overdoing it is never pretty. Add a trendy pair of shoes, in-style jewels, maybe even a hat and sunglasses and you’ll look fabulous. If the weather is chilly, throw on a cardigan! Don't be afraid to make this style your own, because after all, fashion is what we make it.
For all of you petites out there, you need to take precautions when wearing a maxi so you aren't swallowed up in fabric! An empire-waist style that flows away from your body with lots of ruffles is never your friend.. Stick to basic, form-fitting styles that accentuate your waist and don’t have excess fabric. You want to keep it basic, not baggy.
Don't forget to have fun with your footwear. Maxi dresses look fabulous with gladiator sandals, flip flops, wedges or high heeled sandals. Because maxi dresses are a summery piece, they don't look best worn with closed toed shoes. For a comfortable and easy look, wear flats! This will also work if you're tall. If you’re on the shorter side, go for the highest sandals you can find to add height [no one will see them under your dress so size it up!] Do your thing, ladies.

Minimize boring and maximize FABULOUS!
xx, ZM
