Rest in Peace, Lilly Pulitzer

Today marks a sad day in style history. Iconic socialite gone fashion designer Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau passed away at the age of 81 according to her company's Facebook page. "Lilly has been a true inspiration to us and we will miss her," the statement said. "In the days and weeks ahead we will celebrate all that Lilly meant to us. Lilly was a true original who has brought together generations through her bright and happy mark on the world." Lilly left her mark, and she's an inspiration to all.
If you're not familiar with Lilly Pulitzer, and I hope that's not too many of you, her label is famous for its preppy, colorful designs. Her classmate Jacqueline Kennedy made the brand famous when she was photographed in one of Pulitzer's dresses. After that, "They took off like zingo. Everybody loved them, and I went into the dress business," said Pulitzer. My style can definitely be described as preppy, and I was saddened by the news of Ms. Pulitzer's death today. RIP, Lilly. The fashion world, and especially us preps, will always remember and always wear your creations.
At least now we can all have peace of mind knowing that there's Lilly Pulitzer in heaven.
RIP LP.
xx, ZM
