All About: Senior Prom

Last Thursday, May 30 was my senior prom. I can't believe it's already over! I had been nervous about it for a month or so, hoping my hair and makeup would come out as neatly, praying for good weather, and keeping my fingers crossed that my dress would fit perfectly. After worrying too much, everything came together wonderfully. My skin was clear, my hairdresser did a better job than the photo I showed her for an example, and I was super happy with the makeup artist at my salon, Robert Jason Salon in Andover. The only drawback was the 90-degree weather and my poor boyfriend Zach sweating it out in his tux, but other than that, prom was a fairytale.
Girls in my grade started shopping for dresses in January, and I was never one of those "prom-crazed" people that needed to search the edges of the world for a dress. I thought that when the time came to look for something, I would. In March, my mom and I started the search. We hit a couple of department stores that my classmates hadn't shopped at, in search of a unique dress. We got very lucky. I found my dress that day at Neiman Marcus. It was very reasonably priced, and the first dress I tried on. I loved it, and I still do. My size was in stock and it was by Aidan Mattox, a popular designer for gowns, with a fabulous collection for this spring/summer. It was almost a shorter, golden dress with a layer of champagne chiffon over it. It complimented my olive skin, and I matched it with nude pink nails, diamond stud earrings and gold bangles. I'm so happy with how everything went together, and I had so much fun putting it all together! But the highlight of my night was at the prom at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston. Around 9:30 PM the students all sat down anxiously awaiting the prom court and the King and Queen. By surprise, my boyfriend Zach and I were called up as King and Queen. After so much stress of planning my prom look and planning the actual event, I was so happy and honored. I'll never, ever forget my senior prom thanks to this. It was a truly magical night, and everything came together the way I wanted it. I used to think prom was just another night, but it's something I'll never forget, and I've been waiting to share my look with you all.
Still smitten.
xx, ZM

PS: Thanks to my parents for being patient with me because I was so nervous and went through many "I hate my dress" phases. You two are the best. Also, thank you to Zach, my date and my boyfriend, for such a great night of photos, dancing and fun. I'll never forget it! It will be cool to always look back and remember that we were King and Queen. Wow.
