Summer's Best-Styled Piece

As the summer nights begin to darken earlier and become cooler, it’s time to add a light jacket to your look. No worries, a jacket won’t take away from your outfit, it will add another chic aspect to your outfit. Whether you may be wearing a dress, shorts, or cropped trousers, a light jacket will compliment your look. There are so many options when it comes to adding it: cuff the sleeves, add a belt, accessorize with a bold bauble or two (a necklace if you’re leaving it unzipped, a few bangles for the cuffed sleeves), and even add a fun pair of heels or sandals to finish it all off. Embrace the cooler nights and look at them as a way to sport your favorite clothes, jacket and accessories into a single look.
For example (pictured), an option for a chilly, but still summer, night could be a knee-length dress, a longer jacket to fit the length of the dress, and a fun pair of heels to add a little “oomph”. Longer dresses are tricky, that’s why the belt (tied bow) in the front was added, to create a breakup in the look and to minimally accessorize. Since the jacket is left open, this is a good way to give yourself more style than as if it were a plain dress, just flowing down to the knee. To finish off the look, we have a fun, pointy pair of heels. This has been a recent trend, and a very easy look to pull off. Pointed heels look fabulous with this dress, but they’re a good match with any skinny or cropped jeans, high-waisted shorts (on the looser side), and of course, dresses. They’re simple, yet super chic because they add an edge to your look that no other accessory or piece has the ability to do. I’m a fan of the entirety of this look because the jacket is styled perfectly with this dress. If your dress is on the longer side, your jacket should also be. You want to dimensions to match, and same thing goes if it’s a shorter dress; we definitely don’t want your jacket to be longer than the dress. Can you say fashion crisis? Avoid that at all costs, pretty please! So, to make a long story short, light jackets are a great added piece for those nights you think you could use a little something extra. Make sure the length is suitable, your accessories blend together well, and you put your own spin on the look. Take advantage of adding one more, spectacular piece to your stylish end-of-the-summer night outfit.
Bundle up.
